Russell G. Davis, 73, of Solvay, passed away on Monday, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a lifetime of meaningful connections. Russell, known to many as a devoted family man and a proud veteran, touched the lives of those around him with his warm spirit and kind heart.

A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, Russell was a proud graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School. His pursuit of knowledge led him to OCC, where he earned his associate degree, showcasing his commitment to personal and academic growth. Throughout his career, Russell has showcased a diverse and dynamic professional journey across various industries. He began his journey at Allied Chemical Corp., transitioned to Marsellus Casket Co., then Pirro Brothers Ford, and lastly with the TSA, demonstrating his commitment to national security.

Russell’s commitment to national security was also evident as he proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force, with deployments in both the Vietnam and Persian Gulf conflicts. His dedication to the nation was a testament to his courage and sense of duty, earning him the respect and gratitude of those who knew him.

Beyond his military service, Russell was a man of many passions. His love for music was evident when he DJ’d, and in the tunes that filled his home and the joy that radiated from his face when listening to his favorite melodies. Russell found joy in assembling intricate LEGO kits, displaying a creative side that brought both satisfaction and delight. His culinary skills in the kitchen were unparalleled, and he took pleasure in preparing delicious meals for his loved ones. Additionally, his love for dancing brought joy to any gathering, creating cherished memories on the dance floor.

Above all, Russell treasured moments spent with his family. Whether sharing stories or simply enjoying each other's company, his love for his family was immeasurable. His warm presence and genuine affection created a strong and lasting bond that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of being a part of his life.

Russell was predeceased by his parents, Russell and Mary Jane Davis.

Surviving are his loving wife of 29 years, Larine (aka Sweetie Pie); sons, Phillip of Horseheads and Michael (Lisa) of Orlando, FL; daughters, Colleen (Benjamin) Price of DeWitt and Leann (Timothy) Diggs of Pleasant Prairie, WI; eight grandchildren; sister, Jill (Robert) Doss of Chittenango; and several nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends may call Wednesday, December 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Russell will be laid to rest in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Russell’s honor may be made to Hospice of CNY & Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 990 7th North St. Liverpool, NY  13088.
