Samuel “Toody” Solamon, 87, of Camillus, passed away Wednesday at Auburn Community Hospital. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of North High School. Toody was a machine operator for Prestolite Electric for over 30 years, then a driver for Romano Car Dealership for eight years. A communicant of St. Daniel’s Church, he enjoyed dancing, golfing, camping, and boating. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Toody was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Tierney; parents, Michael and Rose Solamon; and step-son, James Tierney II.
The family would like to thank Yolanda and Lisa Fero for their loving care and compassion given towards Toody.
Surviving are his son, Michael (Kristyn) of Camillus; daughters, Maureen (Carl) Mahar of Central Square, and Dawn Solamon of Syracuse; companion, Yolanda Fero; grandchildren, Michael-Paul, Brian, Andrew, Rich, Samantha, Joshua, CJ, and Jason; seven great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Patti Tierney of Syracuse; step-granddaughter, Nicole; and one step-great-grandson.
Relatives and friends may call Saturday, July 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home.
Toody will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
