Sharon J. Bishop, 78, of Fairmount, entered eternal rest surrounded by her loved ones on Monday.
A lifelong resident of the Syracuse area, Sharon was a graduate of West Genesee High School. She found great fulfillment in being a loving mother, sister, daughter, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Sharon worked for many years at the Living and Learning Center in Syracuse, where she cared for and nurtured young children, helping them learn and grow. She also took great pride in sharing her experience and knowledge with her colleagues throughout her years at the daycare center.
Sharon enjoyed growing plants and flowers, listening to birds, photography, visiting the zoo, completing crossword puzzles, attending the New York State Fair, and, most of all, spending time with her loved ones. After overcoming her fear of flying, she traveled to Alaska, Central America, and Europe, where she appreciated beautiful city architecture and peaceful nature walks.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Kellard and Joan Lamoureaux; brother, Gary Lamoureaux; and daughter-in-law, Ramona Bishop.
Surviving are her beloved children, Kristie Bishop of Syracuse, Timothy of Oswego, Kevin of Altus, OK, and Colleen (Joseph) Mielnicki of Syracuse; granddaughter, Hannah Bishop; dear siblings, Nancy Cleveland of Alder Creek, Doreen (Walter Bardrof) McAllister of Skaneateles, and Thomas (Pam) Lamoureaux of Memphis; companion, Randy Deragon of Fairmount; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The family asks that you share this information with the many people touched by Sharon's life.
To celebrate Sharon’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, August 6, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friends of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, 1 Conservation Pl., Syracuse, NY 13204.
