Sharon A. Sylvester, 78, of Camillus, passed away Thursday. Born and raised in Newburgh, she made her home in Camillus and Sennett after relocating in 1997.
A proud 1964 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Sharon also attended Mount Saint Mary College. She dedicated much of her professional life to helping others, working with Orange County Mental Health and later at Bishop Dunn School. After retiring in 1997, Sharon continued her passion for connecting with the community as a freelance writer for the Eagle News weekly paper. She also built a successful second career as a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker, bringing warmth, professionalism, and care to every client she served.
A former communicant of St. Mary’s of the Lake Church, Sharon was guided throughout her life by her faith and compassion.
Sharon had a deep love for travel, and nothing brought her more peace than being by the ocean, which was her favorite place to unwind and reflect.
Above all, Sharon cherished her family. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and nothing brought her more joy than time spent with them. Her kindness, wisdom, and devotion remain a legacy in their hearts.
Sharon was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47 years, Frank; parents, Marian and Andrew Becker; and brother, Robert Becker.
Surviving are her daughter, Andrea (Michael) Chiaramonte of Elbridge; sons, Anthony “Tony” of Liverpool, Michael of Camillus, and Frankie (Jennifer) of Newburgh; her adored grandchildren, Anthony, Matthew, and Megan Sylvester, Kayla, Ryan, Kevin, Brooke, and Emily Chiaramonte, and Arianna and Hailey Sylvester; great-grandchildren, Kendall, Adeline, and one on the way; brother, Andrew Becker of Newburgh; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
To celebrate Sharon’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, August 11, 2025, 5 to 7 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Elbridge Community Church, 109 E. Main St., Elbridge.
Sharon will be laid to rest in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Elbridge.
