Shirley (Frost) Yoder, 98, of Fairmount, passed away Thursday at Keepsake Village at Greenpoint. Born in 1927 in Syracuse, she was a 1944 graduate of Vocational High School. Shirley married Bob in 1946, and they were married for 57 years. She embarked on a career as a salesclerk at Dey Brothers in Fairmount Fair, where her unwavering commitment spanned from its inception until its closure.
Beyond her professional life, Shirley was deeply involved in various community organizations. She was a devoted member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church and found joy and camaraderie through the Pine Grove Golf and Country Club, Westhill Ladies, and the Camillus Senior Center. One of Shirley’s greatest passions was her involvement with the Sunshine Therapy Dog Group. In her leisure time, she and Bob enjoyed playing pitch and spending winters in Zephyrhills, FL, golfing and bowling.
Shirley’s infectious smile brought joy to everyone she met.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Robert; daughter, Debra Steenwerth; son, Robert Jr.; and parents, Herman and Goldie Frost.
Surviving are her daughter, Roberta “Robin” (Kevin) O’Leary of Fairmount; and several nieces and nephews.
To celebrate Shirley’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 5108 W. Genesee St., Camillus.
A funeral service will follow at the church.
Shirley will be laid to rest in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse.
