Susan J. Ingersoll

Susan J. Ingersoll, 76, of Camillus, passed away Thursday at home. Born in Schenectady on July 24, 1947, she was the daughter of the late John and Beatrice Higgins. Susan graduated from Linton High School in Schenectady and SUNY Oswego. She lived in the Camillus area since 1975 and retired in 2005 after 35 years with Sysco Food Services. Outside of her career, Susan found fulfillment in contributing to her community by volunteering at Maxwell Memorial Library, enriching the lives of countless individuals through her love of literature. An avid reader, she was a member of the Between the Lines Book Club and relished the opportunity to engage in lively discussions about literary works. Additionally, Susan selflessly served her community by working with the Board of Elections for five years as an election inspector. She treasured her time spent traveling, discovering new places, and embracing different cultures. Susan’s sharp mind enjoyed the challenge of puzzles, and she had a keen eye for antiquing, always discovering hidden treasures. Yet, her greatest joy came from the companionship of her beloved pets, who provided unwavering love and comfort throughout her life.

ngtime volunteer with Maxwell Memorial Library, she was also a member of the Between the Lines Book Club and worked five years with the Board of Elections as an election inspector. She enjoyed traveling, reading, doing puzzles of all kinds, antiquing and spending time with her beloved pets.Susan was predeceased by her husband, Gary M. Ingersoll, in 2013; and sister, Marianne Barone. 

Surviving are her son, Ryan Meehan of San Diego, CA; stepdaughter, Megan (Jon) Walters of Clay; granddaughters, Katherine and Caroline Walters; niece, Jessica Peruzzi-Sausville of Clifton Park; and great-niece, Chloe Sausville of Albany.

Visitation to celebrate Susan’s life will be held on Friday, November 10 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A funeral service to honor Susan’s life will follow at the funeral home.

Entombment will be in Ascension Mausoleum, Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
