Vernon D. Stephens, 92, of Camillus, passed away on Thursday, surrounded by his loving family. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Beverly, who predeceased him in 2025.

Born on September 17, 1933, in Syracuse, Vernon made his home in Camillus beginning in 1957. He was a graduate of North High School, attended Syracuse University, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Vernon retired after 32 years with Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., where he served as manager of facilities. Dedicated to his community, he also served as a Town of Camillus police officer, town board councilman, member of the Town of Camillus Planning Board, and court clerk for the Town of Camillus Justice Court.

A member of Morning Star Lodge No. 524 for more than 50 years, Vernon was also active with the Tigris Shrine and the Royal Order of Jesters.

Vernon was predeceased by his son, Scott, in 2024.

Surviving are his son, Vernon (Christine) of Throop; granddaughters, Brittany and Ashley; distant son, Brian (Ilene) of Onondaga; granddaughters, Megan and Nicole; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at a later date.

Vernon will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners.
