William Warner Heinekamp

April 1, 1955 — June 26, 2025

Syracuse

William “Bill” Heinekamp, 70, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Bill lived in the Syracuse area for most of his life. He was a 1973 graduate of West Genesee High School and attended Alfred State College. He retired from Heritage Masonry in 2018 and had previously worked for Camillus Cutlery and New Process Gear.

Bill was a hardworking man who loved animals, muscle cars, dive bars, his dogs, and live rock and roll shows. He also enjoyed the outdoors, whistling to the birds at his feeder, and never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams, particularly Syracuse University and Detroit teams (Go Lions!). Bill was always the life of the party—and often the host, too.

Surviving are his wife of 28 years, the former Martha Volan; daughter, Heather Heinekamp; son, Max Heinekamp; two brothers; and one sister.

To celebrate Bill’s life, relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. A service will immediately follow at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Second Chance Canine Adoption Center, 6660 E. Seneca Turnpike, Jamesville, NY 13078.
